I love June and early July for dragonflies. This little guy was hanging around a pond, waiting for his friends to come by and play. They sure don’t sit around very long, though.
Awesome shot - I did a dragonfly workshop two weekends ago. They only hold still if you can catch them. ;-)
Thanks Dot. They are definitely hyperactive and hard to catch sitting still! I actually sat outside, camera on a tripod, remote trigger in hand, for about an hour on Sunday and not a single one (or anything else for that matter) decided to land on my flower.
That's dedication - I followed one around at Martha's Herbary in Pomfret for 45 minutes one day last summer. I think the other people out in the gardens thought I was nuts. I finally got the shot, then identified it as an Eastern amberwing. ;-)
It was a beautiful day and an excuse to sit in the sun and reflect for a bit!
Yay for chasing bugs around a public garden. :)
