Beach found along the route to Paria Bay
(Forgive the odd image quality, this was a pano stitched on my iphone!)

Yesterday I hiked ~9 miles (I mean … 14 kilometers!) from Blanchisseuse to Paria Bay and then up to the Paria Waterfall. What an amazing hike, and an exhausting one! From beach level up to hundreds of feet above the water, again and again. I did not see a single person the entire day except for one man living on Paria beach who I spoke with for a brief moment. Was I not running a bit late and concerned about getting back to the car in the light (rugged does not begin to describe the trail, at least in parts) I would have stayed to chat a bit. A traditional Trini mud house on the side of the road, deep in the northern range. This was on the road in to Brasso Seco.

According to Stephen, many of these houses are deteriorating rapidly and few still know the art of creating them.

Exhausted after a long day, so just a quick post to share one of the hummingbirds from Asa Wright Nature Center in the Northern Range of Trinidad.

Had a great day despite poor shooting weather thanks to the fantastic tour provided by Stephen Broadbridge of Caribbean Discovery Tours. If you are ever looking for any sort of tour guide on Trinidad, I can’t recommend Stephen enough. He knows everyone, everywhere and everything!

Not a bad way to end a day of travel.

Leaving the studio Friday night the setting spring sunlight was amazing, with its long shadows and brilliant yellow lights. I stopped a half dozen times on the 2 mile drive to the grocery store.

This page has gone untended for a while. Too long. Life and other priorities have caught up and I fell off the blogwagon, not for the first (or probably the last) time. But here’s a new photo for you as I poke around and test and check for glitches.

Though everything may look superficially the same, the entire site has been moved to a new host and you should significant improvements in speed across the whole site. Pictures load so much faster and overall everything should be a bit more reliable. That said, I’m sure there are some glitches that have yet to be found, so if something shows up, let me know!

A little change of pace here at jp.net. Luckily not a change of diaper! My friend Ed came over with his wonderful wife Emily and 8 month old Nathan and we had a lot of fun creating a variety of family and baby pictures.
